New York City, NY: Irving Plaza - 10:43pm, DevilDriver storms the stage. Now, normally, we don't do show reviews here on SkullsNBones… or at least not on the main page. But for the Thrash & Burn Tour I felt that there is some much needed elaboration on what's going on. To begin with, the tour is a lot of band for the money. DevilDriver, Emmure, Despised Icon, My Children My Bride, Veil of Maya, For the Fallen Dreams, Oceano, Periphery and Thy Will Be Done.

Nine fucking bands, one fucking stage and one of the most violent mosh pits I've seen in a long time. They also had local openers along the way at select venues. NYC wasn't one of them as it was one of the places where the show didn't start at 3pm.

Now I am not a fan of a few of the bands on this bill, I thought some were great like Periphery and Oceano and one of my favorite bands around Thy Will Be Done. Show up early to see these bands - you won't regret it.

I spent some time drinking $7 Newcastles after that but then after an enthralling workout session by the guys in Emmure, the band of the hour came out to level the place. DevilDriver slammed into the crowd full force with riff after pounding riff ripping apart everyone in their path.

I remember the first time I saw DevilDriver I thought to myself, "Damn this shit is brutal." But right now, I feel like they're at a peak. That band is great. Face pounding riffs, one of the strongest voices in metal music today, and a solid album.
